Help! How can I make money off of this Blog??

Discussions about various topics.

I have a blog that I have invested a lot of time into. It is called EdgePress http://edgepress.wordpress.com/ and I have tried Adsense but it has taken weeks to verify my blog. WTF can I do to at least start making some income??

Maybe look at signing up with buysellads.com or some other advertising provider?
Or you could think about contenture.com

Also.. just noticed that Calendar is spelt wrong on the home page...

Hey EdgePress,

Nice site, keep building your audience and the eye balls on the site because advertisers look for that. Have you ever thought about getting a domain name for better branding?

Thats a nice looking blog. It seems to be hosted at Wordpress. My experience with hosting at Wordpress is they dont let you add in all cool plugins. I would suggest moving your blog to a server where you could have your own domain name and full control over your blog. Then you could focus on marketing your blog with your domain.

My little rant: Besides getting your own domain name..which I personally think should be done before you even start, drop the WP hosting and go with a paid host that has "1-click" WP install (much easier). My partial lists include: Host Gator, Super Green, or Green Geeks. I use Green Geeks Hosting http://greengeeks.com. What to look for in hosting: Yearly or Monthly pricing, 1-click installs, and your own preferences. Also, if your a noob, go with a service with and administrative panel called cPanel...superior. BTW: I searched your WP name edgepress.com already taken | search SM for domain search tools.

Check this site out as well for non-comm. hosting reviews: http://webhostinggeeks.com/ (not a affiliate)

My Strategy: Unique name & content, Orig. material, Lot's of posts, know your readers (get subscriptions), time!

For starters maybe purchase a real domain name, instead of using the sub.wordpress.

Just an idea - cheers

It will be difficult for you to make money with blog hosted under wordpress.com web address. The reason is that you do not have full control over the CMS and blog design. I would suggest you to go for self-hosted blog, which mean to get you own web hosting account (free or paid).

Just curious, why should you make money for taking other websites' content without giving credit?

I immediately recognized one of your posts as being one taken from Smashing Magazine, no credit given. I Google'd a few of the others and found them on other websites.

Examples:

Create content that is actually valuable to your readers, not just some round-ups. Content is key. Readers will follow and, eventually, if you're doing a good job, money will too. But focus on the content, it should always come first.

Good luck!
