Dropbox, do you use it?

Seeing that this forum is full of coders and designers, I should I should post this. Having multiple computers can suck sometimes, but Dropbox fixed that for me.

What is it?
Basically its an application you download and install, it puts a folder wherever you want on you computer and syncs to your other folders on other computers. Not only does it sync multiple computers, but its also an easy upload tool too. Drop the files into the folder, and they're automagically uploaded/synced. It's also free, you can subscribe for more space if needed, but you get up to 5gb free. Dropbox also logs each change you make to a file, usually giving you options to restore a previous version if you don't like or didn't want the change. Meaning it also backs up the files you place into the folder too.

Where do I get it?
2gb + 250mb for being referred.

2gb only, no-referral.

Why are you posting this?
Not trying to advertise, but it really is a service I enjoy using. I rarely even use my flash drive anymore, because Dropbox is faster. Usually any mockups or webpages/apps I make go into my Dropbox folder so I can easily access them from both my computers, or from a friends computer if needed. An idea i've thought about is storing my music in my Dropbox, since its not cloud storage going from song to song won't tie up my tubes and because it syncs, both computers are up to date with any recent song purchases on either computer. Basically, I use it as a tube to sync two computers. If you've already gotten a Dropbox account, what do you use it for?

Does anyone else know of any services like this? I've heard about mozy, but its more of an online backup.

No problem :D. I'm surprised more people here don't use it, or some service like it. Speeds up my day if I switch between computers lol.

I currently use an 8 gb usb-stick (a very small one). This looks so much handier!

I use it just as a backup store for essential documents, but find that 2GB is fairly restrictive in terms of archiving projects, and the premium options are a bit pricy, compared with, say, a 16GB usb stick or even a slim external HDD.

Also, surely the speed of it depends on your connection?

Syncing features seem interest tho'

The nicer feature (for me) is the "share" option. This way you can work on the same files with someone in a different location. But 2GB is a bit small for bigger projects though.

Yeah, I can't afford an external hdd at the moment, so this is sort of an intermediate option. Its a great service for what it offers. I've got a 16gb usb stick, but i never really use it because its a tad slow lol. Speed definitely depends on the connection, but usually since you've got a 2gb limit things dont need to move too fast anyway lol. Would be nice to be able to somehow add space from your hard drive or something.

Definitely. I use it with friends and people I work on projects with, just drop stuff into the project folder and its there for them when they get to it lol. You can increase the size to 5gb by referring people, usually people won't mind it since they get some extra space by being referred too :p.
