I think he's already convinced so no need to continue with the votes. Instead, try to accommodate his follow-up question.

Was that supposed to read "blogspot is free"? If so, your point is moot as both blogspot and wordpress are free.

if you don't have your own hosting and domain, you can use blogspot. You can modified your blog like you want, and they have full support from google and adsense.

But if you have your own hosting and domain, just use wordpress cause it's really easy for modified and maintain, and you will find many interesting plugin and themes in outside.

You're making it sound like blogspot is the only one that offers hosting blogs, which is untrue. Wordpress also hosts blogs.

Hosted Wordpress: http://wordpress.com/
Wordpress for download: http://wordpress.org/

Upss I was wrong  but if you want to use free service and want to modified the script or adding something into your blog maybe you can choose blogspot.

huh?

If that's supposed to mean that you can change the code base then no you cannot. Wordpress on the other hand has a plugin architecture which lets you do pretty much anything.

If that's supposed to mean that you can change the layout then you can do that with any blogging platform.

Wordpress wins the battle everytime, I'd say too. Mainly because, if you want flexibility, you cannot get it in blogspot. However, I have observed for some time that more pages of blogspot blogs get indexed faster in search engines and probably because of the top navigation bar (which you don't really need to display in your blog) you tend to get a little traffic boost. This would be missing in WP blogs and you need to concentrate on the search engine and traffic part for quite some time and in right procedures to get similar results.

If it was me, only for blog/news/portfolio I'd start up with blogger, use it for probably 6-8 months, create a base and shift on to WP to add new features like webstore / e-shop. But if search engine or initial traffic is not so much an issue, it should be Wordpress all the way...

Thats an interesting point ranadeep. Blogspot sites DO seem to pop-up more frequently..

Alright, so what about WORDPRESS Vs. JOOMLA?
I've done a couple of commercial websites with Joomla and its pretty neat, but it can be a little "buggy" sometimes.

Anyone else used Joomla? What are your thoughts, comparing to WP?

Wordpress is more dynamic compared to blogspot. But as far as simplicity is concerned, I would recommend blogspot. It is user friendly and adding page element is not a problem in this aspect. :D
