Universal Principles of Design is the first comprehensive, cross-disciplinary encyclopedia of design. Richly illustrated and easy to navigate, it pairs clear explanations of every design concept with visual examples of the concepts applied in practice. From the "80/20 rule to chunking, from baby-face bias to Ockham's razor, and from self-similarity to storytelling, every major design concept is defined and illustrated for readers to expand their knowledge.

William Lidwell is president of the Applied Management Sciences Institute, co-editor of Guidelines for Excellence in Management and author of The Thoughtful Leader. Kritina Holden is a human factors specialist at Lockheed Martin–Space Operations and NASA. Jill Butler is the founder and president of Stuff Creators Design Studio.

The text was copied from amazon.com where we bought the books ^^

How can I participate?
To win one of the 3 copies, just let us know why this book is of interest to you. The winners will be picked randomly. You have 24 hours to participate! Good luck!

I like designing a lot and I can never get enough inspiration. Furthermore it would be good for my English to read the book in the foreign language.

No offense to you Smashing Mag, but it sure would be nice to learn some design concepts from an actual book, instead of reading blogs.

It sounds like a fascinating read... and I'd be able to share this knowledge with my interface design students too.

Well, good giveaway!

I'm going to have, finally, one full month of holidays, after worked all the summer. So I don't want to see any pc around me, but read some good books.

Just bought already 2 books, the smashing book and another, and so ... the 3 they say is the perfect number no? Then ... give me the 3 book to read.
:)
