I'm a developer, dabbling in design. I've always admired those web developers who are good at design too. I aspire to one day not only code great web apps, but also ones that look good.

Why I should win the book.

1. I want enhance by bevel and emboss skills :)

2. My monitor is too low and when not reading the book, it can improve my pasture, therefore design better.

3. When I blew out my birthday candles, i first wished for my site to validate, and then for world peace.

This book is worth reading. I have gone thorough its index, and really inspired to read this book. I must say authors really used "Universal Principles of Design" while designing Front Cover, Back Cover and Index

Thanks

I'm currently entering my second year of applied computing in which there is a module about user interaction and design. I feel this book would give me a greater understanding of the subject in hand throughout the upcoming lectures and projects. The main reason for myself to be taking the subject of applied computing is not because I enjoy writing programs but due to the fact I want to create applications where users have a more enjoyable experience in their interaction with software as it's something that has been neglected for too long and this is something I'd like to rectify. 'Universal Principals of Design' should be able to point me in the right direction and give a lot of help when it comes to designing and creating these projects. The wisdom of the book is also something I'd love to share with anyone else partaking in group projects to maximise the awareness of the topic. I feel that it would also compliment the Smashing Book hand in hand for the upcoming term.

Thank you for the opportunity and good luck to everyone.

TLDR: I really need this book ^_^

I don't need it for myself, although I always like to read about design, but for my brother who is striving to become a designer this would be a great start and addition.
