New website of the company I work for

Postby teknotica » Tue Nov 03, 2009 6:33 am

Hello everyone!

We have launched a new website a few days ago. We are looking forward for any feedback and I believe Smashing Magazine is the right place for it.

This is the URL:http://www.wearekarbon.com

Thank you in advance.

I really got nothing positivie to say about this website.. first of all that background is really annoying and the website is slow.

If I have to believe the This is our story page your goal is to keep things simple, then why would you hide a scrollbar?

And why is the content area so small and the navigation so big?

I'm sorry if I'm sounding to negative but I really don't like it at all.

Drop the background at once, please!

The content area, so narrow and with all that scrolling business is really annoying. Instead you could put it under We are Carbon, with the most relevant facts on top and if people want to scroll for the rest they will.

I'm a huge fan of using flash for developing a flashwebsite and give the user a great experience but we can't speak here about a experience at all. The background give the user much more attention then the content does and if it was a great background it takes to long to see what the name of the company is and wich services you deliver.

Using flash and give your website a onother touch is always a good thing but ask yourself can you realise it or else develop a website in plain html/css/javascript.

good luck with it. :)

I would suggest to cut down on the loading time. Make everything happen sooner. If I was a customer, I would have closed it already. I left it open and waited for everything only so I could see what was next to give you advice.

I know you would like to show prospective clients how much you can do technically, but you're choking them with it. Be your own client. The website is way too heavy, there is not enough emphasis on your content, and the navigation is awkward. And like most people have said here - the first thing you need to do is lose that background.
