Without a doubt these are extremely creative and certaintly eye catching, beautiful business cards.
However, how cost effective would business cards like these be? I also doubt that some of them would actually be effective.
For example the Sensu design factory business card works well with the scratch areas, its an extremely clever idea. But I feel that this could be a wasted novelty. What if the client doesnt realise its meant to be scratched, and simply see it as being a block of colour. Then the design fails and the business card is rendered useless as the details need to be revealed.
Once the user has scratched those areas the novelty is gone, it becomes an extremely plain and mundane and extremely forgetable business card.
Most people do research on a range of companies before choosing there services and i've often collected many business cards before selecting the right company. If i were to see this in my pile I wouldnt blink twice at it, as Id probably have forgotten its novelty and simply assume its a plain white business card with little to no "wow" factor.
Im currently working on business cards for my own website, so ive been doing alot of research into materials, and companies. Personally im more than happy to go with high grade paper over plastics or metals. Id even go for recycled to add a bit of novelty to it. As they serve my needs perfectly and i feel i can create something nice from then without anything fancy or an endless budget.
