I host with eleven2 I started out on their shared hosting then upgraded to a vps solution...which is great i love the control I have with a vps. In my goldilocks story of web-hosting eleven2 has been "just right" on everything.

I'm currently hosted at various locations including DreamHost and Mosso for some SEO advantages.

I have a large ecommerce site hosted on Mosso, service isn't bad, the occasional outage, support has become very copy/paste since Rackspace took over

I also have a forum hosted on Myriadnetwork.com, and another forum hosted on Streamline.net - both are so-so. The occasional outage, poor support

I was previously hosting all sites on 34sp.com and found them to be exceptional, unfortunately they charged £1.50 per 1Gb excess bandwidth and it just wasn't feasible to remain with them. The ecommerce site mentioned above was racking up £150 per month in excess bandwidth fees before they finally moved us to a VPS. That would go down a minimum of 8-10 times per day which we were told was "normal"

I hate finding web hosts

I currently host my site on dot5hosting.com I have to say I wouldn't recommend them. I don't really like the plesk control panel, has a horrid UI.
The support started off ok, and I was happy but its deteriorated, its a cheep and cheerful hosting company but I cant take much more of the slow download speeds.

I used to use awardspace which were really helpful, but that was over a year ago and I hear there service is also slipping :/

I think I'll pay for a VPS hosting package with a UK based hosting company when my hosting comes up for renewal

If the VPS had a downtime a few times per day, this meant that there was something wrong with the configuration or there were an overload... It is not normal at all to have the virtual machine down a couple of times each day.

I host myself and all my clients with the beautiful people at this* webhost (http://www.thiswebhost.com) as I have only had positive things from them. I've never had any big problems, amazing technical support (I think their record was responding within 4 minutes to a support ticket) and just the general honesty and attitude of the company is pretty outstanding.

I'd recommend them to anybody, and no I do not play any part in the company, I would post an affiliate link but I'm pretty sure the Moderators wouldn't be a fan of that!

I use hosting24.com. They're not bad but their support is horrendous. Can't wait until my time with them is up to find a decent host. I just went for lowest cost.

http://www.fusednetwork.com/

Fast servers, good uptime, good control panel.
Haven't had cause to use tech support yet.

I've used Servage and Media Temple.

Switched from Servage due to terrible service and large amount of hackings on every site on their servers. After moving to Media Temple we haven't had an issue, support is great, server speed has been very good in comparison to servage.

I highly recommend Media Temple.

We've got test accounts at a few locations. A couple I'd recommend are KnownHost and JaguarPC .

I highly recommend http://www.resellerchoice.com . They are top notch, and excellent for a web designer like myself to offer multiple hosting accounts for my clients. I currently have over 60 web sites hosted with them. The tech service is extremely fast and helpful. I have all of my sites on a site Monitor service and the uptime is very high. Their servers are also very fast, my pages come up much quicker than they did with others that I have used. Their control panel also gives you full control over databases, mail, DNS , and includes a 1-click install for Joomla, DNN, Wordpress and others.

I have tried a number of other hosts and had a lot of problems with some. Not all hosts are created equal. Lunarpages I WOULD NOT recommend, their service is very poor, and they had one of my sites down for more than three days.

Go Daddy is OK for a novice, but not if you are a serious web designer, they really pack their servers and data driven websites run poorly on them .

IX Hosting is another poor service provider. I had A LOT of problems trying to run a DNN site with them and ended up almost demanding that my client move to a server that could properly handle their new site.

http://www.bluehost.com is another one I have used and am happy with, very good for standard linux hosting
