Matching CMYK values to closest Pantone

Matching CMYK values to closest Pantone

Postby jniedt » Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:18 pm

Bit of a rut. I get Pantone, I get CMYK. I have a client whose logo contains a gradient. I have the CMYK values for the beginning and end of the gradient. We have had some color shifting issues with the factory we have been using for CMYK printing(specifically blues turning purple). We are trying to figure out how to give them "target" colors to shoot for in Pantone, so they can compare their output to the colors we specify.

try this -> select your color in photoshop then click color libraries and normally he would take the closest color :)

You need to give some more details: you are the designer that sends pantone-coded artwork, and you are unhappy with the printing facility's shifting colours?
If this is the case, you could send them a "proof print", or ask them to print with spot colours. Or make the conversion yourself, before sending the PDFs, and adjust the tints until you are happy. Spot -> Process conversion doesn't always go well, especialy for spot gradients.
