Illustrator: how to remove white background

Hi everyone,

I am rather new to Illustrator and therefore have a problem with white background.

I have imported JPG file into Illustrator then used Pen Tool to select an object I want to use.
When that is done I have selected Trace Live and then fill selected area with a colour.
Now my problem starts because I need to have this object in vector BUT without white background. Without any background.

Any ideas?
