Color Correction in Photoshop

Postby mharrah » Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:25 am

I have some illustrations from a client (drawn with colored pencil) for a book. I've scanned the images into my computer but they used some funky neon colors in the illustrations and they are not showing up correctly on the computer. I'm wondering if there is a way to correct these colors in photoshop or if my scanner is just not picking up the color range.

I've tried all the standard color correction methods ...Curves, Levels, Selective Color, Hue/Saturation and Color Balance... these all definitely help the image appearance of the image but the bright neon colors just aren't coming through...

It is impossible to replicate "neon", metallic or any other special (spot) colour in Photoshop. Only way is to set them as spot in PS and print with spot inks.

I kind of suspected that, but I needed a second opinion before I broke the news to the client or wasted any more of their time trying to replicate the colors. They don't really have the budget for spot colors so I will just have to do the best I can...

Thanks so much!
