AquaScapist - Where creativity meets nature.

Postby Jdinh04 » Wed Oct 28, 2009 3:48 pm

This is a design I've worked on for the past couple of months. Its not a web related website, rather, its a website focused on one of my hobbies, which is planted aquariums.

I think the overall design is set in stone, but I would still like to hear what you guys think. The gallery section of my website isn't done yet, so maybe you could give me some suggestions on a good way to present my photos.

Have a look and let me know what you think?

Thanks!

Your header doesn't load correctly in Firefox. (Correction -- this only happens when I have adblock-plus turned on. For some reason, when your GoogleAds are filtered, it screws up the header).

Looks nice and compact. Easy to follow information. Everything seems fine in Safari 4

For the header, I would make the logo on the left bigger than the ad banner on the right, as its not immediately clear what the site is about.

I would also change the background colour for the banner, as it pushes the banner forwards, when really the logo should be more prominent.

I would also remove the bump where the logo and banner join and make it one smooth curve.

If possible, I would also remove the ads on the front page, so you just have two columns. The current 3 column layout means that there is too much content competing for the users attention.

i had that fire fox error with the banner too. i am thinking it might have something to do with the float. have not had time to look at it propperly.

Looks good. I would be tempted to make the navigation a little heavier and expand it to full width. Its current dimensions feel a bit odd in relation to the column widths.

I'd have a look at making it full width and a bit taller.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

As for the logo issue, how would that be fixed? I have the site opened in Firefox right now and it looks fine to me. I guess this is only a problem when Google Ads are blocked?
