Nectar- advice on logo?

Postby cabbagefro » Sun Sep 27, 2009 1:46 am

Hey, I've been pondering over the idea of creating my own skateboard/clothing company for a while now. I came up with the name and also made this logo.
Of course, I am no where near being experienced enough yet with this kind of stuff so I wanted to see what you guys thought of it...

I would suggest shrinking the logo down and seeing what it looks like when it is small. I think you'll find that the "nectar" starts to become unreadable. The logo could be improved if the "nectar" was larger in proportion to the rest of the logo, and the outside border on the circle shape was thinner (currently, the outside border and the "nectar" text seem to have the same weight).

I think the logo could look really fresh. I would focus on the font though, the straight lines in the font are too unfriendly, unnecessarily unnectary. I would also experiment by taking the orange(?) and lifting it out of the composition like the droplets of nectar are. I'd start by moving it a little below and to the right, so it crosses the circle.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I haven't actually taken any of your comments in yet, but I do thank you for posting. In the meantime, I did come up with another version that is only slightly different.
Here it is:

I will try out the different things you guys have suggested. I just haven't had the time so far.

I too would take the fruit out of the circle, or stretch it out horizontally. I think for it to work, it needs to have the same arc as the circle itself. At the moment the space between the edges of the orange and the edges of the circle is distracting.
