We are looking for some ideas on how to do a very clean implementation to allow users of an app to filter a list of events.

Our specific need is to easily give someone a way to filter from Geographic Area then State then City.

Currently we're using related select/drop-down boxes with jquery and AJAX but perhaps there is a more elegant way?

We've also used a single select/drop-down with optgroups...
