What's Cloud, Grid Hosting?

Postby tayzar44 » Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:56 am

Hello, May I ask some questions about Cloud, Share, Grid Hostings. What's the different between those? Which one can avoid DOS attack? Which hosting do you use and do you want to prefer? Thanks a lot.. :|

Shared hosting is where several hosting accounts are hosted on one server.

Grid hosting is basically the same as shared except that you are on a grid of servers. If one goes down the others will there to stop downtime.

Cloud hosting is a little more difficult to explain but things like amazon web services (http://aws.amazon.com/) are cloud hosting services. That link should explain it a little better.

Well said Three

I think AWS uses CDN (Content Delivery Network) AWS may be having world wide servers :D

Physically, grid hosting and cloud hosting are similar as they both combine dissociate computing resources and present them to the user as one single interface. But the cloud hosting focuses more on how the user pays - as a service - and how it benefits them - reducing fixed costs of infrastructure and freed from all the technical aspects.
