Fast domain registration

Postby Kaypearl » Tue Feb 24, 2009 11:52 am

Hey, everyone, so I've already registered into a hosting plan at MOCHAHOST.com (http://www.theexcursiononline.com) and I want to register a new domain, http://www.ecarindo.com.

However, it's been almost 2 weeks since I've requested for http://www.ecarindo.com and just about 5 minutes ago when they sent me a verification e-mail for the domain, they registered the wrong domain. Yes, you read right, they registered http://www.ecarindo2.com instead!

So, I really need this domain up so that my team and I can start uploading some pages. Y'all know any sites/hosts that let us register a domain only that's fast, maybe a reply in 24 hours? Because this is ridiculous and I'm certainly fed up.

-Respect & thanks.

P.S SM should create a forum on domain/web hosts, etc. I might just sent them a suggestion right now, lol.

 . I'll try my best. In the meanwhile, you think you can walk me through the site? .

Update: I give up. There's no English at all there, of all the languages in Europe, it couldn't be English or at least French. Ok, no, I understand why it's in NL, don't start flaming me.

@Trisox: you have any other suggestions? I'll go google some myself.

I use http://www.dreamhost.com for my domain registrations. Yahoo! and GoDaddy would also work the same way. I use instantdomainsearch.com to find open domain names.

In the future, I wouldn't ever tell anybody what domain you were thinking or trying to register, especially posting your wishes on an internet forum. Somebody may snatch it up before you and then turn around and demand payment to transfer it to you.

So hurry up and register it.

Are there really mean people like those? Thanks for the tip!

Well, thanks for the replies, y'all. I did use GoDaddy to register the domain but via Google Apps, I regret that, , I thought it was going to register only the domain, WOW, what a blonde moment.

And so I gotta wait 60 days to be able to transfer it to MochaHost.com 'cause we already registered into a plan there, .

You know you don't have to have your domain with the same people you host with right? Just change your nameservers.

Teach me! . So I can upload the files using MochaHost's cPanel even though the domain is on GoDaddy?

Yes!

If you go to your domain control panel at GoDaddy they have a section that says 'nameservers'.

Your hosting company should provide you with your nameservers, you just enter them into the GoDaddy panel, give it up to 48 hours (usually a lot less) and the domain will point to your hosting space.

Ok, so I see the:

Nameservers: (Last Update 2/24/2009)
NSXXX.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
NSXXX.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

I clicked on it and now I'm at the "Set Nameservers" screen, there are 3 choices:

Parked nameservers (Park my domains here.)
Hosting nameservers (Host my domains here.)
Custom nameservers (I host my domains elsewhere.)

Which one do I choose? Custom nameservers?

Update: I went with custom nameservers, lol. Btw, CP and Domain Managers are the same right? God, I hate inconsistency of terms.

They're more or less the same, yes. And custom was correct :-)

Control panels tend to deal with hosting, domain managers don't do hosting, just domains. And cPanel is a brand name for a particular control panel.

Phew!

So, after the process is done with the nameservers, I can go onto http://cpanel.ecarindo.com?
