Hey everyone!!
New to the forums here, but a daily reader for a while now.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on something for me. I'm in web design, although graphics are not my strongest point, and I am currently working on my portfolio site. I have come across a bunch on here and I really do like most of them. However, there is one kind of design that does not get much attention. It basically looks like someone took a picture of their desktop and gave it an illustrated look.

I've seen it a couple of different times and I love the idea. However, I have found no tutorials, or even featurette's on these designs. Does anyone know where I can find either icons, tutorials or anything else to get me started down this path?

The challenging part about creating something like this isn't the actual PSD creation... it's finding the correct photos (with correct perspective/lighting) to work with in order to make the design look realistic.

That's close. And it does definitely give me a few starting points. Still looking for more advice though.

I really want to know how to do this. Unfortunately with all my searching, I haven't found what I'm looking for. So, I'll ask this instead:

Is there a really good tutorial on using Illustrator to make an illustrated look out of a photograph?

This is great mate. But its so heavy to load. Took about almost a minute with my 1 mb modem. But it so creative indeed .
