maybe smashing magz could create a set of landmark icon ... it may contain Indonesia's Borobudur Temple, France's Eiffel Tower, China's Great Wall, Egypt's Pyramid n Sphinx, Japan's Pagoda, Cambodia's Angkor Wat Temple, and many more ..

hi i would like you to design similes which reflect people from different communities for ex:
smiles of Chinese people , smiles of Indian people , similes of Americans ,etc..
as in similes are mostly in daily life in chats in mails in scraps etc.., , i think people would be glad to see their nativity reflected in these small similes icons

I would love a set that is used in a bookstore or for a book website and has a 'book' feeling to them. Icons would range from books, magazines, newspapers, search for a book, my account, settings, book store, my bookshelf.

I would love a set that contains all the generic icons (user, lock, settings, document, etc) as well as the status and action indicators (new, edit, arrow, delete,...) so that we mix and match and create whatever is needed!

another idea, what about a set containing transportation methods (plane, car, train, helicopter, etc..)?


and it would be great if the icons were provided in different sizes too (16x16 most importantly, they are the hardest to make if you ask me!)

I'm always searching for matching and creative icons displaying the different fases in a (web)project. I can imagin the following icons and fases:

- an icon for an initiation fase,
- an analysis fase,
- a design fase,
- a development fase,
- and a testing fase

A set with garden icons would be great, especially with spring just around the corner. i'm thinking flowers, shovels, gloves, birds, trees, dirt, worms...

or take a common set of icons (my documents, settings, recycle bin, help, my account, shop, web browser, folder, document, inbox...) and skin them with a green/environmental, or springtime theme. I would love to change my website or computer with not only seasonal backgrounds, but with seasonal icons too!

How about an icon set for common Javascript plug ins?

Maybe some for Hide Content? (hide/show/open)
An icon to show that a link will open.. (modal window/lighbox/jtip)
An icon to show rows and columns are sortable

I use a lot of these functions very often and I have to make do with standard arrow type icons, it would be great (and probably a first) if someone could make a set of icons that expcilty imply that the 'areas' were javascript loaded

network
community (many icons)
icons for a cms (cut, copy paste, publish, remove etc.)

but an innovative style, more gradients, shocking colors, fluo!

I'd like to see a set of icons for Javascript functions.

Eg.

Show/Hide (Icons:show/hide/open state)
Lightbox (an icon that clearly shows that a lightbox will open if the image/link is clicked)
Modal Windows (Same as before)
Sortable Rows (an icon that clearly shows the rows/columns are sortable)

There are tons of social icons available on the net, I agree with some people that there isn't a need to design these sorts of icons...again!

What would be good is to have some practical and useful icons that designers can actually use, instead of finding copious amounts of novelty icons that have no use (however cool they look)!

For example, I think the following are needed...

Icons of people (business and leisure) either detailed or silhouette
Icons that describe an events page/section (i.e. projectors, conferences, etc.)
Icons of various styled arrows -->
Icons for education (e.g. online quiz, tutorials, lessons, serious games and general assessments/tests)


I chose these simply because there aren't any high quality icons of this subject and are actually useful in day to day, professional design.
