Loading external SWF and going to a specific part of the bac

Hello!

I'm new here- been reading the magazine for a while and now turning to the forum for some help. I hope this makes sence.

I have to swf files.

One is menu.swf and the other is long.swf

Menu.swf has basically a menu and loads long.swf in to it. Long.swf is a file with a very long background, only part of it is displayed at a time.

My question is quite basic- how do I get the menu.swf to load long.swf and go directly to a specific part of the background.

I can get long.swf to go directly where I need it with its internal navigation by using tweenlight, but not from menu.swf.

Thansk guys!

Yeah, expand on that, but:
Basically you are loading long.swf in a movieClipLoader / movieClip (e.g. loader_mc). Anything you want to do with it (e.g. goToAndPlay(22) ), you can do via the Loader (e.g. loader_mc.goToAndPlay(22) ).

Just make sure the swf is loaded first, otherwise it may or may not work ;).
and that's the way i feel about it.

Its a little hard to explain!

first of all I'm in AS3

menu.swf is the file that first loads at home/index.htm.

It has a menu on it, which loads a different swf in to it (it loads long.swf)
Long.swf width is the same as menu.swf but the height is much longer. Long.swf is navigating by scrolling up and down. However, Im having a hard time for menu.swf to load long.swf and then scroll to a specific location.

does that make more sense? :?
