Can I stream an swf through another swf...?

Postby astrocas » Sun Aug 02, 2009 10:22 pm

I have a 300x250 flash ad that needs to be 15kb or less to submit. At the moment, it is just under 50kb. Am I able to host the file on my server, and get another swf to call it in?

Or is there a way to compress the swf further? Everything is vector, there are no images etc.

Regards.

Yes. Just be aware that doing this will almost certainly void your contract with your advertising partner, and if they catch you doing it they'll most probably blacklist you and nullify any money they owe you.

While you're at it, treat your ad optimisation very seriously and make sure you don't go too crazy with the frame rate — it's stuff like that which causes the horrible slowdown Flash ads are sometimes responsible for, especially on slower computers and alternative mediums (game consoles, mobile phones, etc). Important to consider when your ad could be on hundreds of sites.
Do you like Monkey Island? What about Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, or Psychonauts? These games all have one thing in common: Tim Schafer. To check out his latest game, head over to BRUTAL! The Legendary Fan Site.

Thanks for the info! Everything ended up working out in the end. The limit was actually 30kb, and they were lenient...

I'll avoid using too many keyframes in the future!
