Need CMS Advice

Postby Tanoru » Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:01 pm

Hi I've never used a CMS before other than Wordpress.

Basically I want a CMS that can be built into a template. Allowing me to create posts.

Can anyone help?

...and Wordpress doesn't fit what you are trying to do?

It would but it'd take so long to build the template into wordpress. I want something that can be easily built into my already existing template.

It really just depends on what features you are looking for. Other than Wordpress, I've done a bit of work with CMSMadeSimple, which has a short learning curve and is really easy to theme -- you can basically just copy and paste your template into the CMS and add a couple CMSMS tags.

You might also want to poke around http://php.opensourcecms.com/scripts/sh ... %20Portals. That site allows you to try demos of each of the CMSs and see which ones you might like to work with. CMS's that I've considered using in the past include Perch (for very simple, small sites), SilverStripe, Concrete5, Pixie and ExpressionEngine.

I always get my clients a strong open source, feature/plugin rich platform such as Wordpress, that works amazingly good as a CMS.
If they really want some crazy stuff, we will develop a custom CMS for them.
